Comedy Central to premiere 'The Living Room'

Comedy Central, India's leading 24-hour English Entertainment channel, is set to launch another local property titled 'The Living Room'.

The channel has recently launched a show, hosted by Cyrus Broacha called 'The Other Week That Wasn't'. It airs every Sunday at 8 pm.

Kenneth Sebastian, the next door stand-up comedian from Bangalore, has his plate full of wits and jokes, served with a pinch of sarcasm, lined up for the audience.

The Living Room is claimed to be India's first English improve sketch comedy show. The show centres around Sebastian and his friends. These friends include Kanan Gill, Kaneez, Abish Matthew, Naveen Richards. The show has no scripts, no retakes, it is 100 per cent improvised, the channel said.

Ferzad Palia, executive vice president and business head, English Entertainment, Viacom 18, says, "With the burgeoning stand-up comedy scene in India, we were clearly able to identify a growing appetite for homemade comedy and with the introduction of the two new shows Comedy Central aims to cater to this emergent demand. India is at the helm of a humor renaissance today and keeping in mind the evolving tastes of our viewers, we are also adapting to cater to their preferences."

Both the shows (The Other Week That Wasn't and The Living Room) will cater to the local viewership. The living Room is an original show of the Comedy Central. However, The Other Week That Wasn't is not their original idea. It is a spin-off of the 'The Week That Wasn't' (the international property). The show, already famous for its politics based gimmicks and jokes, is now dwelling into a wide variety of other entertaining subjects, less political in nature at The Other Week That Wasn't.

Both the shows are target at the Indian audience with jigs, gags and stand-up comedy tailored only for them.
