Star India's Ajit Thakur puts in his papers
Ajit Thakur, executive vice president and business head of Life OK and Channel V, has put in his papers at Star India.

Thakur had joined Star India as the head of Star One, the second Hindi GEC of Star India in August 2011. He spearheaded the launch of Life OK, the channel that replaced Star One. Since then, he has been one of the people responsible for the establishment and success of the channel, which today is one of the top channels in the Hindi GEC space.

In July this year, Star India had given Thakur additional responsibility of heading Channel V, the youth entertainment channel from the network. He had stepped into Prem Kamath's shoes who shifted base to Singapore as ‎the deputy managing director, Asia Pacific at A+E Networks.

Thakur, who has around two decades of work experience, started his career with Coca Cola India as a management trainee. He joined the media fraternity as chief operating officer, UTV Pictures and later he took up the role of chief executive officer at Balaji Motion Pictures. Post Balaji he moved to Sony as business head.

Thakur is a graduate from Hindu College and has an MBA degree from IIM, Lucknow. Besides Balaji Motion Pictures, Coca Cola India and UTV Pictures, Thakur has also worked with Unilever. At Coca Cola India, he handled Sprite and Fanta. At Unilever UK, he was global brand director, Snuggle.
