Full recharge Azadi for Airtel’s pre-paid customers

2004-01-26 End of last week saw lead newspapers carrying a new campaign for Airtel. The campaign talked about the latest offer from the mobile service operator touting ‘Aisee azadi aur kahan’. Aimed at pre-paid subscribers, this latest offering from India’s largest cellular operator would open new frontiers for the pre-paid segment, which is already the most popular cellular segment in the country. With this new facility, pre-paid customers of Airtel can avail of the recharge facility anytime, anywhere and for any amount.

Customers can recharge their pre-paid Airtel connection for as low as Rs 50 with the talk-time valid for three days. They can also avail of the advantage of topping up their pre-paid card with any denomination suiting their budget, be it Rs 75, 120, 160 etc.

Pre-paid customers will now enjoy round-the-clock recharge. This implies that Airtel’s pre-paid customers can recharge by just calling their retailer any time of the day or night. The retailer simply tops up by sending an SMS to the customer of the value desired. Airtel pre-paid customers will also be able to recharge their pre-paid cards while roaming in any of the 15 Airtel networks across India.

To boost the popular pre-paid segment, Airtel has brought down the entry cost as well. Alongside, the company has tied up with lead handset manufacturers Samsung and Motorola to provide customers with the option to go mobile at Rs 3,999 and Rs 3,299, which also comes up with free airtime of Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,800 respectively, depending on the handset the user opts for.
