Richard Quest interviews a stellar line up of guests on CNN

Media Release, August 9
NEW DELHI

CNN’s Richard Quest explores the growing trend for ‘celebrity activism’ as he speaks to famous figures including George Clooney, Angelina Jolie and Beyoncé for the latest edition of his monthly feature show, QUEST. He asks difficult questions of those involved in ‘celebrity activism’ and he joins UNICEF on a fact-finding mission to Ethiopia to meet those who depend on aid in order to survive.
Given the public’s seemingly insatiable obsession with celebrity, Quest asks: Why are these celebrities needed? How much do they know about the cause they represent and is it important that they know anything about it at all? Can celebrities actually harm a campaign?
Quest gained exclusive access to U2 frontman Bono’s charity, The One Organisation, from Live8 in Philadelphia to the G8 summit in Scotland. En route he was also able to ask these questions to a galaxy of stars including musicians Stevie Wonder, James Brown and Beyonce, Virgin Atlantic CEO Sir Richard Branson, and Live8 mastermind Sir Bob Geldorf.
He catches up with Angelina Jolie, as she worked with refugees in Africa and Pakistan, and hears from Pakistan’s home-grown hero Imran Khan about how he used his cricketing fame to raise money for the country’s first free cancer hospital.
In every edition of QUEST there comes a point where Quest puts himself in the shoes of others and in August, United Nations’ children’s charity UNICEF prepares Richard for a fact-finding mission to one of the world’s poorest regions, Ethiopia. Quest meets children and families whose lives hang in the balance, before asking senior government leaders about what he’s seen.
