STAR News launches new primetime news bulletin - Satyameva Jayate!

Media News
New Delhi, May 27

STAR News today announced the launch of a new flagship news bulletin Satyameva Jayate that will take a definitive stance on the major news events of the day, positioning itself as the Page 1 of STAR News. The half hour bulletin to be aired at 9 pm from Monday to Friday is set to revolutionise the very fundamentals of news reportage on television, moving away from the de rigeur norm of reporting news happenings and news bulletins as viewers have known in this country till date.

As the name suggests, Satyameva Jayate - Let truth prevail - will have an aggressive and direct approach in presenting the various layers of meaning of a particular news story and its consequent impact on the viewers' lives- a form of newscast never seen before in the country! For the first time ever, news as reported will be put through a forensic lens by a closer look at facts and logic, to bring out a clear point of view. The bulletin will attempt to get to the core of the complex top stories by peeling off the pretense and drama, layer by layer, exploring the tensions and contradictions of a news story, to present a compelling and often divergent point of view through which people can identify their own concerns.

This news bulletin will also break new ground in presentation style. The bulletin will be presented in a never seen before interactive format aided by appropriate background history, graphics, stills, strong anchor bytes, powerful visuals and opinion points to present an unabashed perspective on the truth - a perspective of a new emerging India impatient with the pace of change and corruption in public life.

Says Uday Shankar, CEO & Editor - Media Content & Communications services, "With Satyameva Jayate, STAR News redefines news programming in India once again. This news bulletin will dismantle the traditional thought & stereotypes in the news business and represent the interests of citizens of a bold new, emerging India. In doing so, we will once again reaffirm our oath to our viewers."

Satyameva Jayate will focus on the big stories of the day in politics, civic issues, investigations and sports amongst others and break through the code of obfuscation with a style that is direct and uncompromising.

Over the recent past, STAR News has clearly defined a trend in programming innovation with Pehli Khabar - a 5 am to 8 am first look at news events - and Yeh Bharat Desh Hai Mera - a raw, gripping perspective on human-interest issues. Clearly now with this new flagship offering, STAR News redefines news reporting by taking a stand for YOU - the people. Satyameva Jayate!
