On popular demand the show will now be a two hour show on air every Monday to Friday from 9pm to 11pm.

Radio’s best innovation in recent times, Yaadon Ka Idiot Box is a unique amalgamation of storytelling and music which aims to reignite the joy of story telling to the current generation. The show has won multiple accolades including the Indian Radio Forum 2012 award for best Hindi Show broadcast after 11 AM & Radio Mikes 2011’s - most unique programming idea.

It brings a very unique flavour to entertainment and changes the way people listen to radio in India. Its one of those iconic shows on radio that succeeded in ensuring appointment listening on radio & has a huge following on-air & online in season 1 – with 3 Crore listeners everyday & 5.5 million page views in just three months for the stories uploaded on Facebook last year during the first season, between January – April 2010. Listeners on Facebook were across 19 countries, and regular radio listeners included those in numerous border towns in Pakistan, who caught signals from Big FM’s stations in Jammu, Amritsar etc.

The cornerstone of the show is that Neelesh Misra beautifully creates a theatre of mind experience behind every story to keep listeners glued into radio & triggers their imagination beyond boundaries. In a country like India which has a great story telling heritage, radio is the perfect medium to be used as a platform to keep this tradition alive. The host engages the audience with heart touching stories about people & their lives built in the context of Yaad Sheher. These stories are interspersed with songs and music making the entire package irresistible to the listeners. The name ‘Yadoon Ka Idiot Box’ comes from the song of the same title from an album called Rewind by Band Called Nine which Neelesh heads.

If the last season was any indication, the show is all set to glue listeners across the country as well as abroad their radio sets as well as FB page as the season 2 is all set to take them on a journey like never before.

This year Season 2 of the show is mounted on a grander scale which will take the listeners on a whirlwind trip through life. The show will be promoted with some innovative marketing with more emphasis on the digital front to reach out to its audience base spread across the country & abroad.

Neelesh is an award-winning former journalist and lyric writer of several huge Bollywood hits, he has been an author of four books and a scriptwriter who has successfully executed this show with his unique style of storytelling that had garnered a magnificent and overwhelming response. His first film as scriptwriter, “Ek Tha Tiger”, will be released in August. Neelesh has co-written the film with its director, Kabir Khan.

“There was a time when grandparents and parents used to tell stories to their children – my own father did. But then the country began to change, we all became busy and no one had time to tell stories in a country that loves hearing and telling them … YKIB is a very humble effort at reviving oral storytelling in India,” Neelesh added.

Commenting on this unique show, Company Spokesperson, 92.7 BIG FM said “It is our endeavor to bring a delightful experience to our listeners with interesting concepts, shows and above all good music to suit varied interests across age groups. The success of the first season encouraged us to get back with this format to entertain our listeners yet again.”
