DD Bharati celebrates the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti with Live telecast of special programme from Golden Temple Amritsar on the occasion of Guru Purub on November 6th 2014 at 07 am to 07:45 am. Another live telecast on the occasion is Kirtan Darbar from Gurdwara Sri Ber Sahib, Sultan Pur Lodhi on the occasion of Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Nanak Ji at 08 pm to 10 pm. A compilation of various Gurbanis, Kirtans darbar and kathak all in adoration and celebration of Guru Parv.

On the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, DD Bharati wishes all its viewers and audiences a happy Guru Nanak Jayanti and airs Nanak Naman on 5th and 6th November 2014 at 10:00 pm repeat next day 06:00 am and 02:00 pm. A compilation of various Gurbanis, Kirtans darbar and kathak all in adoration and celebration of Guru Parv.

In the wake of competition thrown by Private Channels, DD Bharati needs to awake and explore new avenues to retain the discerning viewers of Doordarshan. Across the channels, we get to see same content with different packaging, there is absolutely nothing to watch and get entertained. This is probably the biggest chance for channel as DD Bharati, which wants to be identified as India’s cultural channel to showcase their hidden treasure. In the recent past, channel has made many efforts and has also come out successful. They celebrated centenary birth year of Ghazal queen Begum Akhtar Sahiba, then there were state specific programmes. Doordarshan as a Public Service Broadcaster has always done justice to its role by collaborating best shows for all age groups and also from different states of the country.

This time in a bid to reinvent itself and made its presence more conspicuous, DD Bharati has adopted conscientious approach towards its programming. The channel is trying to revive lost glories of Doordarshan by showcasing archival and new programmes from their rich collection.

DD Bharati captures the beauty of regional cinema in its best form and airs Athnakatha (Malayalam) on 8th Nov 2014 and on 15th Nov 2014 Ek Cup Chya (Marathi) at 06:30 pm, repeated next day at 02:30 am and 10:30 am in our best of Indian Cinema slot. On 15th Nov 2014 Ek Cup Chya (Marathi). Premlal's directorial debut 'Athmakatha' reinstates your faith in good cinema. Narrating an extremely moving tale of a dad - daughter duo, Premlal displays a remarkable mellowness in his direction that very few debutantes possess. 'Athmakatha' turns out to be a rich and imaginative tribute to the indomitable human spirit that strives and eventually survives. "Ek Cup Chya" (A Cup of Tea), tells the story of Tukaram Sawant, a bus conductor who questions authorities using the Right to Information Act and its provisions when he is slammed with a huge electric bill. "India is a faceless democracy. RTI has the ability to change that, and that is what we wanted to show in the film,” national award winner Sumitra Bhave, said, who is one of the directors of the film.

In the beginning of the month, DD Bharati presented from its rich archives The Threads of Life a special show on Threads and weaving from different part of India, created in diverse media and styles, using diverse techniques and artistic vocabularies – from the traditional hand-woven to designer led interventions in weaving only on DD Bharati on 1st Nov 2014. Another very interesting documentary which is going to be aired on 6th Nov 2014 at 06:00 pm, repeat next day at 02:00 am and 10:00pm is Malgudi Dreams, a film on the life of R K Narayana. On 8th Nov 2014, stay tuned for Born Again at 06:00 pm, repeat next day at 02:00 am and 10:00pm. An official shared, only DD Bharati can think of airing something different with “The Maths Factor”. It is a unique show which started earlier this month on 3rd November and is aired everyday at 05:30 pm, repeat next day at 01:30 am and 09:30 am. The Maths Factor is a 13-part series delving into the magic of mathematics. Each episode takes an interesting concept or area of mathematics and journeys through it using narratives, anecdotes, historical recreations and innovative problems to bring it alive. One one side the episode on Network theory takes you through the seven bridges of Konigsberg, while the other episode on Probability kicks off with a game show.

Starting from 08th Nov 2014 at 09:00 pm DD Bharati presents a new programme Gunijan – A dialogue with classical Musicians, Art Critics, Music Historians & Literatures. An interview programme with Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma on 08th Nov 2014 and Ashok Vajpayei on 15th Nov 2014. All the episodes have exclusively been curated and re-presented to you by Sh Yatindra Mishra and Smt. Kumud Diwan.

DD Bharati present’s From Maya to Matter: A tribute to the Rare Renaissance Woman, Dr Maya Rao. A special programme scheduled on 10th, 11th and 12th Nov 2014 at 10:00 pm, repeat next day at 06:00 am and 02:00 pm featuring the works and path breaking contributions immensely in the field of performing arts with her innovative choreographic dance numbers. Her vast experience in performing, teaching and also promoting dance at national and international platforms make her holder of a genre, known for reawakening dance presentation with a contemporary delight and thought. Dr Arshiya Sethi, who has compiled the programme with value addition and enriched presentation, says ‘the programme gives a kaleidoscopic view of the people and times in newly independent India, who crafted a new vision and helped carry forward the rich dance & creative traditions of India. The programme is a historical documentation as well as the celebration of the work and life of Dr. Maya Rao, or Maya didi as she was lovingly called by all and hers is an inspiring life, richly and well-lived.

Balnritya Katha scheduled on 13th November, 2014 at 10:00 pm is a special curation by Dr. Arshiya Sethi to mark a celebration of the Children's Day. The programme includes a series of narratives introducing our young audience to a range of popular lores through the creative medium of dance interpretations. The programme begins with a Ganesh Vandana in the form of puppetry from Southern part of India followed by the depiction of the popular fairy tale, Snow White in the form of a Bharatanatyam Ballet "Himsweta" conceptualised by Jayalaxmi Eshwar. The programme ends with a revisiting of the historical narrative of Jhansi ki Rani as interpreted in the lines of Subhadra Kumari Chauhanl through the medium of dance.

Zevar Ka Dibba the teleplay is based on a moving story by Munshi Premchand. Shot in the early eighties when colour TV had just been introduced, the play is d irected by Saba Zaidi, and the cast includes young Alok Nath, Anila singh in the lead roles and eminent theatre personalities like Ramgopal Bajaj and Usha Bannerjee in supporting roles. The story is about a very diligent teacher who is employed by a rich businessman to tutor his son. The amount he earns from this assignment helps him pull on with his small family of two. When his student is to get married the Thakur puts the entire responsibility of wedding arrangements on this very dependable teacher. As he is running around shopping and giving contracts he is exposed to the glittering market and a puzzling world of commissions and gifts’. He purchases jewellery worth Rs 10,000 for the wedding and sees the lady of the house tuck it away safely in the cupboard. Injustice and inequality of the world hits him at this point- that while he is not able to bring even a decent saree home for his beautiful young wife, thousands of rupees are being squandered on this wedding. And then one night the jewellery box gets stolen! His life changes dramatically. To discover what happened to the jewellery and to this young man, do watch this play on 15th and 16th of November at 11 pm and repeat telecast at 07 am and 03 pm.
