Ex Network18 Executives Launch India's First Content Marketplace

Media Brief

Mumbai, Jan 27, 2015

The last twelve to eighteen months have seen Indian marketers beginning to see the value of using content to engage with their consumers. This is because a lot of them had successfully built their own audiences across their digital assets and other social platforms. After building the audiences the next thing on most of their minds was "What to say?" This lead to a bunch of ex Network18employees to team up with some of the youngest and sharpest tech minds in the country from IIT to build out India's first content marketplace - "Scatter."

Scatter, launched by Spiral Content Solutions Pvt. Ltd. in its current avatar addresses 3 key stake holders i.e. the marketer, the content publisher and the digital consumer. As a marketplace, Scatter curates the best of breed content from publishers of high pedigree and makes this available to marketers for their social and community needs. The consumer benefits by seeing content relevant to him / her from sources that they respect for the neutrality and lack of typical brand bias.

Says Rajan Srinivasan, CEO of Spiral Content "Content engagement is clearly multi-layered and Scatter currently addresses just one of these layers. It helps brands connect with consumers on the back of superlative content which consumers want to read and know more about" Unlike a pure trade based market place, Scatter adds intelligent layers for the marketers to ensure that they are constantly able to access relevant and potential conversation points. The platform took around 9

months to build out and this effort was led by their CTO, Pratik Poddar, who found this an interestingproblem to work on. Pratik adds "Scatter makes sure that the marketer never falls short of things to say.

The platform addresses brand attributes, consumer passion points, a great editorial calendar tool and a real time opportunity to plug into LIVE conversations. Our efforts will always be focused on making Scatter a compelling tool in the marketers arsenal"

Most publishers also encouraged this platform and offered the much needed support to help Scatter launch with a robust content base. For the publisher, here was an opportunity to see their content ride the social wave beyond their current distribution platforms. Spiral Content's COO, Mahip Singh, added "We have received an overwhelming response from the publisher community. Scatter allowed publishers an opportunity to resurface their content and today it boasts of more than 80 publishers of Indian and International repute."

Scatter in its current form asks marketers to point to 3rd party content. In a short time from now, there will be several more layers of the content conversation that Scatter will help brands with. These will range from SEO friendly syndication opportunities and will straddle the entire range of content formats. Scatteralso has plans to launch this platform globally and hence address a much larger market.
