Hindustan Times recently organized the Game Changer Awards to recognize those who have made extraordinary contribution to society and set precedence in their field. Eleven people from different walks of life were awarded trophies to honor and celebrate their achievements.
Those felicitated include eminent personalities Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore (Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting), Deepa Malik (Paralympic medallist), Rana Daggubatti (Actor, Baahubali), Rahul Sharma (Micromax co-founder), Melba Pria (Mexican Ambassador to India), Bhuvan Bam (YouTube sensation), Sunil Sethi (President, Fashion Design Council of India), Commandant Chetan Cheeta (who bravely fought even after being shot nine times during an encounter with terrorists in Kashmir), Priyank Sukhija (Delhi Restaurateur) and Niti Saxena (President, Sales and Marketing of Appu Ghar, the Retail).
Sonal Kalra, National Editor, Entertainment and Lifestyle, Hindustan Times, says “These awards are for people from all sections of our society who are game changers in the real sense of the word. From a minister who is working towards making the society better to an honest cab driver, and an actor who has given one of the biggest hits of the Indian film industry (Baahubali) we are recognising all who have made a difference in our lives.”
On being asked what makes a person fearless in the face of death, Chetan Cheeta simple response with the words “Love for the country” was a true testament to patriotism.
Among these renowned names of awardees was also the cab driver Debendra Kapri – who returned a lost bag containing articles worth eight lakh rupees and won hearts across the country. He received a standing ovation from the audience for his selfless act.
Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, on receiving the prestigious award from Vijay Goel (Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports), said: “I have the privilege of coming from a family where my great grandfather and grandfather fought in the first and the 2nd World War, respectively. So, the Indian Army has been the real game changer in my life.”
