Zee News, Facebook.com and Nautanki.tv team up for election results coverage

Zee News will provide live video content of elections results, Facebook.com will enable the interactivity to the video content and Nautanki.tv will provide the technology.

Zee News will stream the Lok Sabha elections results coverage live on the Internet from May 15 to May 17.

The live coverage will be available on a special website called Elections.nautanki.tv, which is technologically powered by Nautanki.tv, an online video content network company.

The website will go live on May 15 and apart from live video streaming, there will be a dash-board on the site which will reflect the updated score card or number of seats won by each political party.

The most interesting part of the website, however, is not video streaming but the addition of interactivity to the video streaming, with the integration to social media site Facebook.com.

A Facebook application will be made available on Elections.nautanki.tv. The application will provide an option to the visitors landing on the website to write down their views or comments related to the elections results coverage.

Whenever a visitor writes comments on the Facebook application, it will automatically get published as news feed of that particular member on its Facebook.com profile page and also on the home page of friends linked to him through Facebook.com

The interactivity is only restricted to registered members of Facebook.com, who will be enabled to write comments or join the ongoing conversation happening around the election results. Visitors who are not members of Facebook.com can only watch the live streaming of election results.

The news feed released on Facebook.com will also carry the URL of the website and it will help Zee News to create a viral impact with Elections.nautanki.tv and will definitely boost the visitors on the site.

Speaking to afaqs!, Sunil Nair, founder, Nautanki.tv, says, “We are expecting that two million members spread across the globe will spend at least half an hour on Elections.nautanki.tv in the period of three days.”

This initiative to promote the Hindi news video content seems to be a strategic step by Facebook.com, especially in view of the fact that it has recently started offering some of its services in various regional languages of India.

Elections.nautanki.tv will be promoted by both Facebook and Zee News. The social media site will run banner ads on Facebook.com, which will redirect its members to the site.

Zee News will promote the URL of the website through its network of channels, tickers on Dish TV channels and through its news anchors, who will mention the site while presenting news. There are plans to create awareness about the site through SMS and e-mail marketing as well.

The video content on Elections.nautanki.tv will not be monetised. Rohit Kumar, deputy vice-president, marketing, Zee News, tells afaqs!, “It is just a brand building initiative and there are no plans to monetise or run ads in between video content.” However, the web page on which the video content will be made available will be monetised by running banner ads.
