Tell us what you think of the new afaqs! design
Ian's being crafted from a first-
thought into something good.
Anil Srivatsa, chief operating office at Meow FM, the radio venture of India Today Group, has put in his papers. Today is his last day at the company.
Srivatsa confirmed this to afaqs!, stating personal reasons behind the move. “I'm going to Bengaluru, because of a family emergency. For a few months, I plan to stay there, unless something really interesting falls in my lap,” he informs.
He has been associated with the ‘for-women’ radio station for almost three years now.

Radio happened to Srivatsa at a very early stage, when he was pursuing his degree in the US. He started out as a radio jockey -- a passion that he continued with till date.
From radio, Srivatsa’s next move was to television, where he dabbled in different functions such as production, management and syndication. He has also tried his hands at cable network, DTH and IPTV.
However, Srivatsa’s passion for radio continued as he hosted a radio show, ‘Anil ki Awaaz’, from a studio inside his home, even while working fulltime for a television company. The programme’s popularity increased gradually, spreading throughout America. It eventually became the largest syndicated South Asian radio show in the US, securing Srivatsa a place in the Limca Book of Records.
Srivatsa feels that content syndication has tremendous potential, which is yet to be utilized by radio players across the country.
Even as the COO of Meow, he continued to broadcast his show for the US listeners from his home in New Delhi. In fact, he was the only COO in the Indian radio fraternity to double up as a radio jockey, as he also hosted the show, ‘Between the Sheets’, on Meow FM.
Srivatsa can be credited with giving a clear positioning to Meow as a talk-based radio station for women.

From Abhishek, Sun 07 Jun 2009 04:08:11 PM I can now say after reading this artcle that t bis totaly my fault that i was not aware that Anil was the CEO coz I always had in my mind that he is one of the best RJ's i have heard so far.Now his importance for me has just doubled. After this I can say that he is not only the trainer who sits in the room and gives instructions but he also goes in the field and shows live action which is inspiring for his colleagues as well as for his listeners.Hat's off Anil.........!!!!!!

From suresh, Tue 02 Jun 2009 04:34:09 PM I urge Anil to continue "between the sheets" and hope Meow figures out a way to make it possible
From Nirmalya , Tue 02 Jun 2009 03:57:51 PM i am a calcuttan,i heard between the sheets on air prerecorded stuff that used to be aired in cal for MEOW Listernership increase at the beginning. the content of the programme is preety bold and its first time ever in the RADIO fraternity that anil took up the challenge so very professionally, and executed show with enviable panache that i am really mesmerised at anils capacities as a RJ on meow and strongly believe ANIL possess those very rarely found creative spark among the so called FM Fraternity in India who has all potential to explore the FM to a new era and has all leadership qualities that is required to drive any new venture.anil is a very rarely found creative/marketing leader who are very less in no. in the creative FM world today in india and all of us will miss him..secondly sadly enough MEOW in cal could not garner any pitch against the mirchi and red and others due to poor programme content, positioning fiasco, incapable RJ and such others...MEOW has not been able to differentiate in cal..it is till shatabdi and bala didi their best where the entity was still getting established..but now ..alas..its lost...i can only say its a leadership crisis now and if not handled by a PROFESSIONAL like anil...it will be a LOST CASE FOR EVER..AS THE COMPETITIVE ENVIRONMENT OF FM IS VERY VERY AGGRESSIVE NOW
From Shivani, Tue 02 Jun 2009 11:16:16 AM Anil will be really missed as he was so innovative & refreshingly different dishing out topics considered taboo with panache. He is by far the best there is and a fantastic human being who understands human emotions. Will miss him dearly.
From sanjay, Tue 02 Jun 2009 10:57:29 AM meow is nil without anil...............
From Vishal Bhatnagar, Tue 02 Jun 2009 10:38:05 AM Maybe he can continue his RJing despote giving up wthe CEo's role... fantastic He is made for success no matter where he goes!
From sanjay dayal, Mon 01 Jun 2009 11:03:49 PM he is fantastic...
From Ana, Mon 01 Jun 2009 10:36:59 PM Yea...Anil is a g8 RJ & 'Between the Sheets' was an engrossing show. Where next Anil?
From Kshitij, Mon 01 Jun 2009 08:27:59 PM Its quite sad that Anil is quitting Meow. I would really miss him listening on-air since he was a very matured radio presenter
From Vidushi Khera, Mon 01 Jun 2009 07:08:29 PM This is shocking news to me...i can't claim to be his regular listener, but he has been my favourite RJ since Meow started. He really is the best RJ that I have come across, always thinking on his feet...and more importantly...making us think as well...the radio industry will definitely be at a loss with this man gone...
From Neha , Mon 01 Jun 2009 06:29:14 PM He is the most sound and humble highest level executive you can meet in Delhi. He is made for success no matter where he goes!
From Supriya, Mon 01 Jun 2009 05:41:31 PM Pity... I found Amil to be a fantastic RJ, probably among the best in the country. Maybe he can continue his RJing despote giving up wthe CEo's role...
