Dainik Bhaskar's Plantation Drive

Through the course of a recent on-ground campaign 'Ek Ped Ek Zindagi', the media group has planted over 1.5 million trees.

Dainik Bhaskar recently concluded one of its social initiatives titled 'Ek Ped Ek Zindagi', during the course of which it planted over 1.5 million saplings across India. It took around two months to do so.

The objective was to sensitise and educate people towards the benefits of planting trees, and inspire them to plant at least one tree in their lifetime.

The initiative was supported by over 250 dignitaries including film/television personalities, Padma Shri awardees, sportspersons, government officials, NGOs, corporates, educational institutions and welfare organisations.

According to the Ministry of Environment and Forests, each day India loses several hectares of forest land to industrialisation, encroachment and mining. This adversely affects the environment.

Vinay Maheshwari, senior vice president, market development and brand marketing, Dainik Bhaskar Group says, "If every individual takes a pledge to plant at least one tree in his/her lifetime, it will make a huge difference to our society. We losing our green cover rapidly and the next 30 years are crucial for us."

For the record, the Dainik Bhaskar Group includes brands such as Dainik Bhaskar, Divya Bhaskar and Dainik Divya Marathi. The group has 58 editions in four languages across 14 states in India. It is also present across the digital and FM segments through its flagship portals dainikbhaskar.com and divyabhaskar.com, and MY FM, respectively.
