Ladies, have you ever been cornered in a local train by a flasher? Or encountered a man who was getting too touchy in a packed discotheque? Or even been caught unaware by a pervert in a deserted parking lot? If you have answered a ‘yes’ to any of these, then have no fear, for help is here! Teaming up with the Mumbai Police and Oglivy,Eeksaurus has come up with quirky short films promoting women’s empowerment while encouraging them to dial 103 whenever they find themselves in any danger and the Mumbai Police will be there to help them!
The videos which have been interestingly conceptualized around the theme of gadgets that a woman wished she had when encountered with such unpleasant situations. These include items such as ‘Bagzilla’, the monster in a bag,‘Porcupine Jacket’, which drives through perverts at the push of a button, and ‘Intergalactic Pest Control’, who are present in their little spaceship to deal with miscreants at a women’s beck and call in troubled situations.
The underlying theme of all the videos is to promote the helpline number available for women across the state. While animation has often been seen in the light that it is meant for kids, taking a whole new perspective on a persistent social issue, Eeksaurus has been able to throw in an element of humour while grabbing eyeballs. Having recently won the first ever award for India at Annecy, the world’s oldest and largest animation film festival,Eeksaurus has also been felicitated by the Mumbai Police commissioner towards their efforts in spearheading awareness for the safety of women in the city.
Suresh Eriyat (Founder & Creative Director – Eeksaurus), the mind behind the campaign says,“Women have often faced unpleasant situations in their day-to-day lives due to the mindset of some men who treat them with disrespect. While creating the film, my team and I sat together to understand the exact feeling that goes through a woman’s mind when
faced with sexual harassment. We realised that amidst all their feelings of disgust from the unwanted attention that they receive, they always wished that they had something in hand that they could use against the perpetrator and ensure that no such crime is committed against women in the future as well. Until the future when we will have access to such technology, we aim to inform as many women as possible about the helpline number that has been made available for them by the Mumbai Police.

A small initiative towards creating awareness in the form of videos, Eeksaurus has always created content that appeals to a variety of audience be it through their ad films or short films. Looking forward, they aim to create more such content that sends a powerful message through different mediums that have not been explored to their greatest potential in India.
