New Delhi
Sanjay Sarma, Executive Director at Ushak Kaal Communications Ltd., the Delhi based advertising agency has resigned after a 9-year stint.
He joined the agency in 1996 and held several positions including Director- Client Services and Director- Strategic Planning before his current assignment as the Executive Director, since July 2004. He has worked on several brands and projects while at the agency, including Amway, Adobe, Blackberrys, Ballarpur Industries, Freelook clothing, Hindustan Motors, Orchid hotels, Sanat products and The Times of India. He has also been involved with social projects for WHO and Population Services International.
With over the past 14 years in the field of marketing & communications, he has wide experience across functional areas of product & brand management, marketing, strategic planning, research & consultancy, advertising & communications. Before joining the agency, Sanjay has spent several years in brand management and product marketing functions. He began his career in 1990 with Amrit Agro Industries, (makers of Uncle Chipps which has since been acquired by Pepsi Foods) one of the first Indian companies to venture into the branded packaged snack food industry. He was involved with memorable campaigns like ‘Bole mere lips, I love Uncle Chipps’ and spent four years there before moving to Shaw Wallace in 1995, to head their Brand Management functions for the liquor division. There he worked on the Haywards range, La France Brandy and was involved with many new product developments including the launch of Haywards Hilife.
An avid golfer, Sanjay is also an occasional columnist, and used to contribute a regular column in the advertising & marketing section of Business Standard between 2000-03.
His next destination is not known as yet, but it is rumored that he is likely to head a new venture in a related industry.
