Company release, March 14, 2005 New Delhi Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo division of Emirates Airline, is seeing increasing levels of demand on its services from Delhi. The carrier, which offers up to 17 tonnes of cargo capacity on its non-stop daily service to Dubai, is fast becoming the carrier of choice for shippers of perishable and time-sensitive goods. Foodstuffs are one of the principal commodities being transported from Delhi with ten tonnes of raw mutton shipped daily to Dubai for sale at the city's markets. Taking advantage of the carrier's convenient timetable and quick clearance times, the meat leaves Delhi at 0415 IST and arrives into Dubai at 0630 DST, before receiving priority clearance at the Dubai Cargo Village and being available on the market stalls by 0730 DST. Other types of commodity that Emirates SkyCargo regularly transports from Delhi include handicrafts, leather, knitwear and hosiery, along with items such as machinery. Emirates SkyCargo has made the shipment of perishable and time-sensitive goods more time-efficient in recent months with the introduction of SkyLog. This new generation ground handling system provides more efficient handling of shipments at Dubai International Airport, leading to faster delivery times, both for consignments being sent to Dubai or in transit there. Commenting on the role of SkyLog in enhancing service levels from Delhi, Mr Pradeep Suri, Cargo Manager Delhi said, "The time savings that have become available since the introduction of SkyLog have paid great dividends for our customers, and this has become evident in the increase in demand." Emirates SkyCargo also offers two premium Priority Services - Emirates Priority Plus and Emirates Priority. Emirates Priority Plus is specially designed for time sensitive and urgent consignments of up to 100kgs; whereas Emirates Priority is designed for larger express shipments.
