Tell us what you think of the new afaqs! design
Ian's being crafted from a first-
thought into something good.
The world’s second largest advertising, media and marketing website, afaqs!, today unveiled the colours of its new logo. It also announced the winner of a contest where it had invited its readers to paint the colours of its new logo. Until last weekend, the site was known as agencyfaqs!
The winner of the contest was Priyal Sokhiya of Jaipur, whose choice of colours was closest to the final colours of the new logo. Another participant, Divya Gupta, came close to anticipating the colours as well. However, the Jaipur contestant received the prize of a digital drawing tablet because her entry came in first.
More than 2,500 entries were received in this first-of-its-kind attempt where readers had to guess the colours of the logo. Participants belonged to virtually every major ad agency and media company. (Click here to see all the entries.)

Explaining the new logo, a spokesperson said, "The name has been shortened to reflect the changing nature of marketing communications. Besides, we found that a lot of people used to call the site afaqs! anyway. So, in that sense, the change of name is a natural step. It is also shorter and snappier.”
Talking on the choice of colour, he said, that it reflects “the classic balance between the coolness and stability of deep blue and the positive energy of chrome yellow. The tilt signifies speed since news is a key aspect of afaqs!”
The logo has been created by Pranab Dutta, a well-known Delhi-based designer.
The decision to go with afaqs! has been driven by the big changes that have taken place in marketing communications since the website was launched. At that time, marketers relied primarily on print and TV to get their message across to consumers.
Over time, several other media have grown explosively – out of home, radio and online. The website has been responding to these changes by creating new sub-sites.
Another major shift during this while has been marketers’ increasing willingness to try out below-the-line options. Since afaqs! is in the marketing communications space, it will gradually expand its coverage into many of these areas.
The spokesperson emphasised that the new focus does not mean that agencyfaqs! will reduce its emphasis on traditional advertising or media. To underline this, he pointed to the new feature, Creative Showcase, which was unveiled on the site only recently.
The new changes, he said, are aimed at completing the marketers’ experience so that they can find all that they want and need from a single source, afaqs!

From bottleHeD, Thu 19 Jun 2008 02:12:56 PM a-faqs? Hah, hilarious.. like a middles-aged person trying to be hip to the 18-year old teenager.
From deva, Sat 24 May 2008 11:03:48 PM The whole look reminds me of an auto site.... or may be dial-a-cab, rent-a-car kind of stuff.
From rijhu, Wed 21 May 2008 03:35:17 PM the name sounds cool......but the colour combination is toooo dull...and boring....bright colour could have done some justic to the name.
From lana, Wed 21 May 2008 10:50:33 AM The name sounds like you're trying too hard and the colours are really drab - I prefer the bright red that you had before (much more vibrant).
From Vishal, Tue 20 May 2008 12:05:41 AM bakwas logo! poor taste ... not expected from agencyfaqs oops afaqs!
instead, they could have chosen from the colors submitted in the contest....
From Bidyut Nath, Mon 19 May 2008 06:15:32 PM Good Idea! Change keeps us in the race...isn't it? Cheers.....Team afaqs!
From shubho, Mon 19 May 2008 06:05:26 PM brilliant idea, involving consumers. and 2500 entries ain't no joke in the indian digital space. way to go!

From Abdul Karim Telgi, Mon 19 May 2008 12:30:26 PM I think the earlier design was much more lively. The new one is boring...
From AV, Mon 19 May 2008 12:17:30 PM Why such bad colour combination agency chose???????????
Design has to attractive & professinatly attached with MEDIA Glare........
From Sujith A, Mon 19 May 2008 12:10:57 PM Short, simple & neat. will take few days to get set, from Agencyfaqs to afaqs
but cool...
From DEEPAK ACHARYA, Mon 19 May 2008 11:59:22 AM Congratulations to Priyal Sokhiya ! Perhaps she deserves the prize. Divya Gupta should not be disappointed, as such more opportunities would come in future. And all the best afaqs!
From ganesh, Mon 19 May 2008 11:12:04 AM The colours are not that appealing... if u can see der is no winner who has absolutely designed the same colour. This shows that no one was interested in such a color.
From H K Dua, Mon 19 May 2008 10:56:37 AM agencyfaqs! oops afaqs has redesigned twice in a year's gap. Great going... U r much ahead of your competitors where you get to see only ad and no content.
From gk, Mon 19 May 2008 10:10:38 AM it is not designed well.
From nandan jain, Mon 19 May 2008 10:01:15 AM Good job afaqs!
