The issue pertains to STAR India branding its new channel as STAR One
SaharaOne, the newly rechristened media and entertainment company of the Sahara group, has issued a legal notice to STAR India. The issue pertains to STAR India branding its new channel as STAR One. SaharaOne feels that by doing this, STAR India has copied Sahara's rechristened brand. The development has been confirmed by a senior STAR executive.
STAR executives say that the channel will try to sort out the problem through mutual discussions with Sahara.
The launch of SaharaOne predated STAR One's scheduled launch by a month; the new channel from STAR TV is set to make a November 1 debut. While SaharaOne is a general entertainment channel, STAR One specifically targets premium viewers between the age-group of 26 and 34 years.
Even from an advertising point of view, STAR One is looking at premium products and services catering to premium viewers.
