One more award for web designers. This time for amateurs. Instituted by India's leading web experts in association with IndianIndex.com - an Indian Search Engine and Web Guide, featuring site reviews and Indian Internet news - the Mouseketeer Awards hope to reward and encourage amateur Indian web developers.

The judges for the contest include Dewang Mehta, president, NASSCOM, cine star and Net evangelist Shammi Kapoor, design teams from leading web development firms Planet Asia and Trisoft Design, IT journalists and CEOs of top Indian portals - hungama.com, homeindia.com, fabmart.com and indiagames.com.

"Professional Web development companies will not be allowed to compete, since amateur designers do not have access to the resources that the bigger developers have," said Zigi John, CEO of indianindex.com. "There are a lot of talented small-time developers across India. The Mouseketeer Awards will provide them an even playing field and an opportunity to showcase their skills," he added. The Top 3 Mouseketeers will also receive free web hosting packages from Bay Web India and magazine subscriptions.

The last date for entry submission is May 30, 2000 and the results will be announced by the second week of June. Application forms are available at http://www.indianindex.com/.
