MAX to air World Cricket Tsunami Appeal ODI

MAX will telecast the World Cricket Tsunami Appeal & #BANNER1 & # fund-raising one-day international match to be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on January 10.

Announcing this, Kunal Dasgupta, CEO, SET India Pvt Ltd, said, "We are privileged to be able to play our part by airing this extremely important and crucial ODI match on MAX. This will be one of the many initiatives SET India Pvt Ltd is taking up to provide relief to Tsunami victims in South East Asia."

Ehsan Mani, ICC President, said, ''MAX is a valued broadcast partner of the ICC and it is pleasing that it has agreed to broadcast this important match at a very short notice in the region directly affected by this disaster. I hope that this match will help us to raise valuable funds to help the relief effort and I thank MAX for its contribution to the World Cricket Tsunami Appeal."

The 50-over day-night match will feature some of the biggest names in cricket, with an ICC World XI taking on an Asian ACC XI. It will feature top cricketers from India, Pakistan, Australia, England, New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, who will come together to play to help the people devastated by the disaster.

Sourav Ganguly will captain the Asian ACC XI which includes top stars like Shoaib Akhtar, Sanath Jayasuriya, Yousuf Youhana, Muttiah Muralitharan, Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid, while Ricky Ponting will lead the ICC XI, which will include stalwarts such as Brian Lara, Adam Gilchrist, Shane Warne, Stephen Fleming, Chris Gayle and Darren Gough, among others.

Some of the other initiatives taken by SET India Pvt Ltd towards tsunami relief include Public Service Announcements urging viewers to contribute to help tsunami victims, and donations by employees of SET India Pvt Ltd who are contributing a day's salary along with other essentials and necessities towards relief.
