Alpha Marathi's Nilesh Thakkar to join STAR News

STAR News is hiring ad sales professionals as it is on the verge of streamlining its ad sales department which will now be under the direct control of MCCS

Nilesh Thakkar, assistant vice president, sales, Alpha Marathi has put in his papers. He is moving to STAR News. Although Thakkar's exact designation at STAR News couldn't be ascertained, industry sources have already confirmed this development.

Recently, there have been certain changes in the STAR News ad sales team. From February 1, the advertising sales of STAR News will be handled by Media Content and Communication Services (MCCS). Prabal Gaanguly will head the department as sales director, STAR News.

Till date, STAR News' advertising sales is managed by STAR India, the joint venture partner in Media Content and Communication Services (MCCS). Shanti Rao, who was heading the STAR News sales functions till now, would take over another responsibility from the bouquet.

Thakkar, who has around 13 years of experience in print and television, was instrumental in bringing retail advertisers to ZEE's Alpha Marathi. His expertise in the retail segment will also be leveraged at STAR News.

Thakkar has spent three years in television and around 10 years in the print media working for publications such as Loksatta, Jansatta and The Asian age.

Last week, two more professionals joined the STAR News ad sales team. While Vineet Gupta came from India TV, Nandini Govindan was picked up from ZEE News.
