Restructuring at Madison: Punitha Arumugam becomes group CEO

In a major restructuring at Madison Media, Punitha Arumugam has been designated as group CEO. Arumugam had joined Madison as media services director in January 1999 and was COO - West, Madison Media, prior to its restructuring.

Meanwhile, Madison has launched two new sub brands – Madison Media Plus and Madison Media Infinity. Ajit Varghese has been appointed as the COO of Madison Media Infinity, while Basabdutta Chowdhuri has taken over as the COO of Madison Media Plus.

Talking about the needs behind this restructuring, Sam Balsara, CMD, Madison Media, says, “The informal arrangement has got an official recognition now. With this restructuring, Chowdhuri and Varghese will get more independence to work as head of their respective divisions. Arumugam, as the group CEO, will play the role of an advisor in these two new entities.”

Both Chowdhuri and Varghese have spent time at Madison; while Chowdhuri had joined in April 1998, Varghese had come on board in July 1999. Both were general managers before the current restructuring took place.

Chowdhuri told agencyfaqs! that having separate entities helped the company to serve its clients better.

Recently, Madison has also elevated Gopakumar Nair to the position of Commercial Director and Deepak Agharkar to the position of Finance Director.

Over the last two years, Madison has won prestigious clients such as Cadbury, Asian Paints, ACER, Hyundai, Marico, McDonald’s, Tata AIG, Airtel, Dainik Jagran, TVS Motors, Tata Tea and Tata Salt. © 2005 agencyfaqs!
