TOI starts hiring staff for Chennai operations

The Times of India group is looking to launch an edition in Chennai in the near future

Manikantan Nair, business group head, buying at Fulcrum, Chennai (part of GroupM), has resigned. He will be joining The Times of India as deputy chief manager on April 15.

His last day of work at Fulcrum was April 8. The Times of India group is looking to launch an edition in Chennai in the near future.

Arch-rival Deccan Chronicle, which battles TOI in its home turf of Andhra Pradesh, forayed into Chennai last month with an invitation pricing of Re 1.

The Hindu, on the other hand, is in a revamp mode at the moment, and is likely to sport a new look-and-feel to hold on to reader interest.

Clearly, these are exciting times for media professionals in Chennai, and many are making the best of it.

Nair has over eight years experience having worked with Fulcrum for nine months, and seven years with Malayala Manorama. © 2005 agencyfaqs!
