Income Tax department calls for agency pitch

Last year, the budgetary allocations were unofficially pegged around Rs 10-15 crore

We are fast approaching that time of the year when the Department of Income-Tax appeals to the sensible to pay their annual tax through advertisements.

And, as it happens every year around this time, the IT department has called for a creative pitch. Last year, the process was flagged off in mid-July when the tax-men had invited over 20 agencies to make presentations.

Like last year, even this year will see agencies working on the strategic aspects of communication on two subjects - voluntary compliance of taxes, and penalty for failure to furnish return on income on time.

In September 2004, subsequent to two rounds of screening of credentials and the deciding round - strategy and creative presentation, seven agencies were empanelled by the I-T department.

The list included Triton Communications, Grey Worldwide, Crayons Advertising, Akshara, ImageAd, Span and Mode. The budgetary allocations were unofficially pegged around Rs 10-15 crore and would cover a multi-media effort in a planned manner.
