Fairfest Media to host three-day event on franchising

The event will comprise a two-day seminar and a three-day exhibition in an effort to bring Indian and international franchisers/franchisees together

Fairfest Media Limited, the 15-year-old events independent trade fair organisers, is hosting a seminar on the opportunities of franchising in India, in association with the Franchising Association of India. The event is called the ‘India International Franchise Expo’ (IIFE) and will take place from September 28 to September 30, 2005, at the World Trade Centre, Mumbai.

IIFE will consist of a two-day seminar on September 28 and 29, called ‘The Franchising Summit 2005’, and a three-day exhibition on September 28-30. The purpose of IIFE is to bring together companies offering the best franchise opportunities from India and the international market.

The exhibition will cover a wide range of topics such as apparel and fashion, automobile services and accessories, beauty care and slimming, security services, business services, chemists and drugstores, cleaning and maintenance services, confectionery, educational institutes and retailing. The rates for the exhibition are Rs 8,500 / US$ 245 per square metre.

Says Roy Pereira, general manager, Fairfest Media, “The purpose behind the event is to create a platform for both Indian and international franchisers and prospective franchisees to meet and interact with each other. It is designed to appeal to entrepreneurs looking to start and run their own franchised businesses. In fact, the seminar is not just restricted to businessmen, it is also open to students, particularly students from catering schools and colleges, as we will have quite a few speakers from the food industry.”

The seminar will have eminent people from Indian industry speaking on various related topics, among them Albert Kong, chairman, Asiawide Franchise Consultants, Singapore; Anil Ambani, chairman and MD, Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Enterprises; Ratan Jalan, CEO, Apollo Health and Life Style Ltd; Anil Chopra, executive director, Lakme Beauty Services; and Pramod Khera, CEO, Aptech Ltd.

An extensive media and marketing campaign will also be launched to promote IIFE and interest prospective visitors in it. The promotional efforts include an advertising campaign in the national, international and regional media, a comprehensive pre-show mailing effort, concurrent magnet events for added publicity, regular press releases before the show, special publicity interests and links in the electronic media and direct invitations through various institutions.
