SaharaOne acquires big Bollywood titles

The channel will showcase some of the bigger hits of the year in the next six months

After its innovative strategy of showcasing movies before their theatre release, general entertainment channel SaharaOne Television is now set to launch the world television premieres of some big Hindi movies in the next six months. The line-up includes titles such as ‘Page 3’, ‘Sarkaar’, ‘Bewafa’, ‘Jo Bole So Nihaal’, ‘Mumbai Express’ and ‘Bose – The Forgotten Hero’.

Shantonu Aditya, chief executive officer, SaharaOne, says, “We are keeping up the momentum of bringing to our viewers the best of entertainment by showcasing the world TV premieres of a truly rich line-up of movies. These titles represent the most successful and critically acclaimed movies of the year. For instance, ‘Page 3’ and ‘Bose’ have won five National Awards between them and while the former was the first big hit of the year, 2005, ‘Sarkaar’ has also been a mega hit.”

Incidentally, the channel launched a mega thriller, ‘Kohinoor’, targeted at a family audience, in the first week of September.

Sahara TV was launched in 2000 as a 24-hour Hindi entertainment channel. On October 10, 2004, the channel was rechristened SaharaOne with the launch of The First Indian Sangeet Awards held at the Royal Albert Hall, London.
