Mausumi Kar joins MPG as Delhi branch head

Kar’s last stint was with Initiative, where she worked for four-and-a-half years

Mausumi Kar, associate vice-president, Initiative, has joined MPG as head of its Delhi branch.

Speaking to agencyfaqs!, Jeffrey Crasto, president, MPG, says, “We have been looking for someone to spearhead the Delhi branch since March. However, it took quite a while for us to get Kar on board. Her primary role will be acquiring new businesses and bringing organisational stability to the agency.”

Kar, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM), Kolkata, started her career in 1992 with Grey (then Trikaya Grey), Kolkata. After serving at the agency for more than a year, she moved to Mudra and then moved back to Grey.

Her first association with media planning and buying happened when she joined Vibrant Media (a joint venture between ABCL and Mudra). She then moved to Enterprise Nexus. She served at that agency for about two years and then moved to McCann-Erickson for a short while. Prior to joining MPG, her last assignment was with Initiative.

An enthused Kar says, “I was toying with the idea of joining the agency for a while, but finally took it up as it opened up a number of new opportunities for me. This is a paradigm shift for me, but the challenges are wider and there’s new scope of learning.”
