Bijoy Sreedhar moves from Tata Indicom to Radio City

Sreedhar has been appointed national head, retail sales, atRadio City

Bijoy Sreedhar has joined Radio City as national head, retail sales. He comes from Tata Indicom, where he was national account manager (BFSI) at the Tata Indicom Enterprise Business Unit (TIEBU).

Sreedhar will be based in Mumbai and will be responsible for strategy and operations for retail sales. He will work closely with Ashit Kukian, who was recently appointed national head, corporate sales.

An enthused Sreedhar says, “In my view, Radio City has always been a trendsetter in this industry in India. In addition, Apurva Purohit, who is CEO, Radio City, has a clear vision for the organisation, which came across when I first met her.”

Talking about his views on the evolution of the radio industry, Sreedhar remarks, “Radio has always been a powerful medium. The new licensing norms introduced in India recently have unshackled the industry. Also, now that the process of bidding for the next round of licences has started, this industry is entering its second phase of rapid growth.”

Sreedhar holds a Master’s degree in international business from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi. In a career spanning 10 years in the areas of sales and marketing, he has handled a number of portfolios in the domestic and international markets.

After starting out as an assistant manager (exports), Mafatlal Industries, Sreedhar moved on to become manager (exports), IMTC, Bangalore, where he helped develop the Marks & Spencer and Woolworths chain stores. He was then business manager, IMO Communications, Hyderabad.

His last stint was with Tata Indicom, where he led the sales initiative and took steps to ensure top-of-the-mind brand recall.

Commenting on the appointment, Apurva Purohit, CEO, Radio City, says, “Radio City is in the process of consolidating its operations. We are building a strong and talented team to steer a sparkling brand and innovative content. Sreedhar is the exact fit that we were looking for as his is the kind of leadership we require to keep Radio City going.”
