Yamaha Motor to review its advertising duties

The account under review is estimated to be worth Rs 50 crore

Yamaha Motor India is in the process of reviewing both its creative and media duties. Currently, Dentsu Communications handles the media and creative duties for all Yamaha brands, including Yamaha G5, Frazer and Crux. It also handles all Yamaha’s corporate campaigns.

The account is estimated to be worth Rs 50 crore.

Rajiv Pruthi, general manager, sales and marketing, Yamaha Motor India, confirms the news, saying, “In this era of tough competition, reviewing communication strategy becomes imperative. We are looking for an agency that will give us a fresh creative approach matched with cost competitiveness.”

He says, “Apart from Dentsu Communications, Rediffusion DY&R, Bates Enterprise and RK Swamy/ BBDO have also pitched for the business.”

Pruthi says that a decision on the pitch will be announced by the end of January 2006.

In mid-2004, the advertising duties for Yamaha Motor India’s corporate campaigns as well as its newly launched brand, Frazer, were awarded to Dentsu. Mudra used to handle the entire Yamaha portfolio before Dentsu.

In fact, Mudra continued to handle the Crux business even when a part of the Yamaha business was aligned with Dentsu. It was only in October 2005 that Yamaha Motors consolidated its entire advertising business with Dentsu.
