Sania Mirza will
soon be seen as herself in a new TVC, this time for the soft drink, Sprite. The commercial started being aired on February 11 and promises to be another addition to the straightforward experience for Sprite consumers. The TVC will be supported by an integrated marketing communication programme involving radio.
According to an official communique, Vikas Gupta, vice-president, marketing, Coca-Cola India, says, "Sania is not only a youth icon, but also personifies a no-nonsense approach. She fits the Sprite brand perfectly: 'Sprite bujhaye only pyaas... baaki all bakwaas (Sprite only quenches your thirst… everything else is nonsense)'.
In the advertisement, a quirky, pretentious young guy rudely discovers that Sprite quenches Sania's thirst and refreshes her, but has nothing to do with her success. Though the message is the same as in the earlier TVCs, it has been picturised humourously.
The straight-edge commercial has been produced by Sabal Sheikhawat of Big Picture Company. Ogilvy & Mather, Delhi, is handling Sprite's creative rights.
