Bhupal Ramnathkar to be part of Cannes 2006 jury

Ramnathkar will be part of the jury for the Outdoor category at the 53rd International Advertising Festival to be held at Cannes this June

Indian advertising agencies might be winning only a handful of international awards, but the number of Indians making it to international awards juries is increasing by the day.

The latest name on this list is of Bhupal Ramnathkar, executive creative director, Bates Enterprise. Ramnathkar will be part of the jury for the Outdoor category at the 53rd International Advertising Festival to be held at Cannes this June.

For the first time, the Outdoor category at Cannes will have an independent jury. Earlier, this category used to be part of the Press section. Fernando Vega Olmos from Argentina will be the president of the Outdoor jury.

An enthused Ramnathkar says, “Cannes has always been a wonderful learning experience for me. This time, being a part of the jury is going to be even more exciting because you get to see a lot of brilliant work, which misses the mark by a narrow margin.”

“Moreover, being on the jury also gives you the opportunity to interact with the best minds in advertising from across the world,” he adds.

Ramnathkar started his career at Enterprise with Mohammad Khan around 20 years ago. Since then, he has worked with agencies such as Mudra, Leo Burnett and DDB Needham (Dubai) before finally moving back to Bates Enterprise (then Enterprise Nexus). Ramnathkar is also the founder director of Umbrella, the creative hot-shop.

Ramnathkar himself has won over 100 national and 40 international awards at Cannes, One Show, Clio, New York Festivals, London International Advertising Awards and the Asia Pacific Adfest.
