At the third
Mirchi KAAN Awards, McCann-Erickson bagged the Agency of the Year title for the third time in a row. McCann bagged a total of 16 metals (both in the Campaign and Single categories), including one gold, ten silvers and five bronzes. It bagged the gold for Pears Oil Control in the Toiletries & Household Care: Campaign category and the silvers for Coca-Cola, Tata Indicom, Pears Oil Control, Hanes and NDTV India.
Following McCann was O&M, with a tally of two golds, seven silvers and five bronzes. The golds came for Fevicol ('Guess Brand') in the Home, Décor and Leisure: Single category and Hutch Delhi Marathon ('After') in the Sports, Entertainment, Travel and Leisure: Single category. The seven silvers were for SBI Life Insurance and Hutch Delhi Marathon ('Before').
Leo Burnett went on to bag three silvers (for Jo Soap, Lingo and Heinz Tomato Ketchup) and four bronzes, while Everest Brand Solutions scored two silvers, both for ING Vysya Dividend Fund. Rediffusion DY&R won a silver and a bronze for unreleased work on Naukri.com and Chevrolet Tavera, respectively.
Contract bagged a silver for Toon Disney ('Alphabets') and two bronzes for Toon Disney and HSBC Equity Fund. Meanwhile, Hakuhodo Percept bagged a bronze for its unreleased work on Fevicol.
Prasoon Joshi won the Radio Writer of the Year title, while NDTV got the award for Client of the Year. Musica got the Production House of the Year award. The Radio Voice of the Year title was jointly shared by Piyush Pandey for SBI Life Insurance and Salim Ghouse for NDTV India. This is the second time that Ghouse is receiving the award.
The Crystal Award of the Year was conferred upon Rediffusion DY&R. Radio Mirchi will sponsor a trip for two young creative writers from Rediffusion to the Cannes Advertising Festival.
Despite the huge participation, only a few agencies managed to bag awards. Surprisingly, the number of awards conferred this year totted up to about 52 as against 28 last year.
