Contract wins creative duties for Ten Sports

Although both the agency and client are reticent about the size of the business, an industry insider pegs it to be mid-sized. The media duties are likely to go to Maxus

Following a multi-agency pitch, Contract, Mumbai, has bagged the creative duties for television channel Ten Sports. The channel’s media and creative duties were so far being handled by ad agency Network.

Although both the client and Contract executives declined to talk about the size of the business, an industry insider pegs the business to be mid-sized (Rs 4-5 crore). The media duties are likely to go to Maxus, the source said. But Maxus executives told agencyfaqs! that they are not yet in a position to comment on the deal.

Umesh Shrikhande, executive vice-president, Contract, confirmed the win to agencyfaqs!, saying, “Winning a dedicated sports channel brand is a wonderful challenge. We hope to add sparkle to this promising brand, which we feel has always displayed a lot of attitude and energy.”

Although the media mix for the brand could not be ascertained, it is believed that press will be an important part of it.

For the record, Ten Sports is currently positioned as the ‘World’s No. 1 Sports Channel for South Asians’. The channel was launched on April 1, 2002. Ten Sports is distributed by The One Alliance in India and Tower Sports in Pakistan.
