The New & #BANNER1 & # York Festival 2006 shortlist is out and work from seven Indian agencies has made it to the list. The agencies include Mudra (19 finalists), Leo Burnett (eight finalists), JWT (six, all for Levi's Slim Jeans) and Rediffusion DY&R, Delhi (three finalists). In addition, Tribal DDB India, Rubecon Communications, Chennai, and Stark Communications have got a finalist each. The results will be declared by the end of September 2006.
Ten of Mudra's 19 finalists are from its Delhi office, one from Mudra, South, and the other eight, from Mumbai. The Delhi finalists include two pieces of work for Air-India, titled 'Budget Travel', in the Transportation/ Travel / Tourism and Guerrilla Marketing: Motion categories, and three finalists for 'Dainik Jagran', titled 'Fake Currency', in the Guerrilla Marketing: Outdoor, Alternative: Word of Mouth/ Buzz, and Public Service Advertising: Environmental Issues categories. Other work shortlisted includes HBO 'Batman Begins' and 'Dumped', both in the Media Promotion: Broadcast category, an ad for the Indian Cancer Society titled 'What's Inside Your Cigarette?' in the Medical Services category, 'Do Not Disturb' for Dabur Shilajit in the Art Direction category and Electrolux Femme Force 'Electrolux Sex Dolls' in the Home Appliances/ Furniture category.
The eight finalists from Mudra, Mumbai, include three for SBI Debit Card titled 'Pickpocket' (two print ads and one film), two for Olympus titled 'Silver' and 'Black' in the Print: Portable Electronics category, 'Low Price' for Big Bazaar in the Retail Store category and two public service ads, 'Lighter' and 'Box', in the Public Service: Social Education and Public Service for Promotion of Peace and Human Rights categories, respectively. Mudra, South, has got a nomination for Henko titled 'Stamp' in the Speciality Advertising: Consumer category. Tribal DDB India, too, has got one nomination, 'sfbegame.com', for Madura Garments in the Overall Design category.
Leo Burnett's Heinz 'Housewife' film has been nominated in the Film: Confections/ Snacks category. Its outdoor nominations include 'Dead Body' for Indian Railway, Tide 'Radium Garments' and 'Glasses' for McDonald's Home Delivery. 'Coin' for Doy Soaps has been nominated in the Press: Cosmetics/ Beauty Aids / Toiletries category. Its work for P&G Tide titled 'Benaras/ Taj/ Kerala/ Calcutta' has been nominated in the Press: Household Products/ Services campaign category.
Leo Burnett's other two finalists are 'Fountain/ VT/ Crawford Market' for McDonald's old price menu in the Press: Retail Food Campaign category and 'Monalisa' for The History Channel in the Media: Promotion Broadcast category.
JWT's Levi's Slim Jeans campaign is once again in the limelight with six nominations in all. Its ad, 'Slim vs Slim', is a finalist in the TV Apparel and Film Craft Animation: Cel categories and its 'Slim Figures' series has got four nominations - three in the Print Apparel category and one in the Print Campaign Apparel category.
Rediffusion DY&R, Delhi, has three finalists, two in outdoor and one in film. 'Banana Mountain' for PVR Cinemas has been shortlisted in the Outdoor: Entertainment Promotion category (it fetched a silver at the Abbys and a bronze at the AAAI Goafest). Next, its work, 'Mute', for iPod has been shortlisted in the Outdoor: Portable Electronics category. Lastly, a film for Sugar Free, titled 'Auto Rickshaw', has been nominated in the Film: Medical Products category.
Rubecon Communications, Chennai, has got itself a finalist in the Outdoor: Retail Foods category, for 'Kill Summer' - its work for client Fruit Shop. Stark Communications too, has got one finalist in the Craft: Copywriting category. This campaign, titled 'How on Earth?' was for client cgh earth, to mark its new identity and change of name from the former one, Casino Group of Hotels.
