Pradeep Guha elected IAA president for 2006-07

Sam Balsara is the outgoing president of the IAA. Guha was elected president at the association’s annual general meeting

Pradeep Guha, chief executive officer, Zee Telefilms, is the president of the Indian chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) for the year, 2006-07. Guha was elected president at the recently concluded annual general meeting of the association held in Mumbai. Guha takes over from Sam Balsara, who was earlier functioning as the president. Balsara will continue to serve on the committee as immediate past president. Pheroza Bilimoria, former president of IAA, now serves on the IAA World Board and is a special invitee with the India chapter.

The IAA is spread over 93 countries and has more than 6,000 members worldwide. It aims to recognise emerging cross-border trends before they become obvious and provide marketing communications professionals with an international, multi-industry forum for the global exchange of knowledge, best practices, professional development, experience and ideas. The Indian chapter for the forum was initiated more than 20 years ago with a view to foster a healthy environment for the growth of globalisation in the communications industry. The India chapter has around 50 members currently.

Says Guha, “I have been associated with the IAA for a long time and, this time, the responsibility definitely seems like one of the most interesting opportunities to influence positively the rapidly growing Indian advertising industry and hopefully build synergies with the help of our international counterparts.”

For the record, Guha joined Zee Telefilms in 2004; earlier, he was president of the Times Group.
