Times OOH Media bags advertising rights for Delhi international airport

The license encompasses the design, setting up, development and maintenance of advertisement locations for a period of three years. It covers approximately 150 display sites inside and around the terminal buildings

Times Innovative Media Private Limited (TIMPL) has bagged the outdoor advertisement license for Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), Delhi. IGIA is expected to emerge as India’s largest airport with passenger traffic of approximately 22 million by FY 2009.

The agreement encompasses the design, setting up, development and maintenance of advertisement locations for a period of three years. It covers approximately 150 display sites inside the terminal buildings and aerobridges, and hoardings around terminals and on the approach roads.

TIMPL, which operates its OOH media business under the brand name ‘Times OOH Media’, had bid Rs 150 crore. Other bidders for this business included TDI, Adwell, Lakshya, JC Decaux and Serve & Volley.

AP Parigi, director, TIMPL, says, “There were many out-of-home media players, including global players, interested in this account. It is the first time after the privatisation of Delhi airport that the advertising rights licence has been awarded. We are glad to have bagged it.”

Recently, Times OOH Media put up two LED screens at Mumbai airport. The company has been among the leaders in introducing technologies such as LEDs in outdoor advertising.

The first phase of IGIA’s modernisation is expected to end by 2010 with the completion of a new integrated terminal building. The new terminal will cater to both domestic and international passengers, and will be capable of handling 37 million passengers per annum. Prior to that, a new domestic airline terminal and a third runway to complement the existing two will be built by 2008.
