Amit Ray of Vibrant Media moves on

Ray, a popular figure in the media circuit, was working as director, media services, with Vibrant, Reliance Industries' media AOR

Amit Ray, director, media services, Vibrant Media, has decided to move on. His next destination is not known, but he is likely to continue in the media circuit.

Ray was with Vibrant (Reliance Industries' media AOR) for the past one year. A well-known media personality, Ray worked with social organisations in the first phase of his career. He was with International Mission of Hope in Kolkata for six years, after which he moved to the advertising industry. Here, he first worked with Tara Sinha Associates (now McCann-Erickson), Kolkata, where he was involved in media planning.

Two years later, Ray moved to Mumbai and joined Lowe (then Lintas) for a year. His next stop was at Clarion (now Bates Enterprise), where he spent another two years steering the agency's media department.

Following that was a stint with HTA (now JWT), Bangalore. His long innings with the Mudra Group began in 1995, when he joined the agency as the executive vice-president and head, media. In 2001, he steered the formation of Mudra's media arm, Optimum Media Solutions (OMS), and then moved over to that venture. While there, till 2005, Ray mainly looked after the business of Reliance Infocomm (now Reliance Communications). In 2005, he left the Mudra Group and moved over to the client side of things - he joined Reliance Infocomm. After that, he moved on to Vibrant.

Ray is also the vice-chairman of MRUC's technical committee and plays a key role in IRS, India's key readership study. He also helped the industry by guiding ORG-MARG in improving their Peoplemetre software.
