Dentsu Communications spreads its wings to Chennai

The Chennai branch will be a full-service agency, with people and resources being ramped up in sync with the growing business

It was in August 2006 that agencyfaqs! first announced that Dentsu Communication was planning an office in Chennai. It said that the plan was a result of the Chennai based Amrutanjan business moving to Dentsu.

Exactly six months later, here’s the official announcement of the expansion. Dentsu Communication says it is indeed launching a branch in Chennai. But it will not reveal who is slated to head the new branch, only saying that a decision is awaited.

The official communiqué says that the Chennai branch will be a full-service agency, with people and resources being ramped up in sync with the growing business.

Ruchira Raina, executive director, Dentsu Communications, says, “Having an office in Chennai will further consolidate our position as an agency in the South. Between Bangalore and Chennai, our regional resources will be strengthened to a substantial level. Chennai is an active market and home to some very well respected brands. After bagging Amrutanjan, we are pro-actively looking at some global business here.”

Raina adds, “The branch has the required resources in place and, in the past few weeks, we have also been part of some multi-agency presentations.”

Dentsu Communications started operations in October 2003 and is headquartered in Bangalore. Its client list includes brands such as Toyota, Yamaha, Casio, Blaupunkt, i-mate, Radico, BPTP, Nitesh Builders and Nissin-Foods.
