Recently, Percept Holdings gave back its 51 per cent share in WebPercept to the Amit Tripathi-owned Netweb Solutions
Following Percept Holdings’ exit from WebPercept, Amit Tripathi has brought about some changes at his company, Netweb Solutions.
As is known, Percept Holdings had partnered with Netweb Solutions in 2000 to form a joint venture entity, WebPercept, which specialised in providing online communication solutions to its clients. It was a 51:49 joint venture between Percept Holdings and Netweb Solutions. However, Percept Holdings recently gave back its 51 per cent share to Netweb Solutions, and decided to form its own digital offering under the Percept Media umbrella.

Now, these four will collectively be brought under the umbrella of id8 Labs, a unit under the parent company, Netweb Solutions. In time, the names of all four verticals will be dissolved and they will be consolidated under the id8 Labs brand. “This has been done to bring about consolidation in our offerings to our clients,” says Tripathi to agencyfaqs!
However, there is some amount of ambiguity when it comes to the brand name, WebPercept.
According to Ajay Upadhyay, president, corporate affairs, Percept Holdings, the rights to use the complete brand name lies with Percept Holdings, while Tripathi of Netweb Solutions asserts that, as of now, his company holds the rights and Percept Holdings will be able to reclaim these rights only after a year (by the end of March 2008). Neither party is willing to backtrack from its statement.
Tripathi says that after the consolidation, id8 Labs will have capitalised billings of Rs 20 crore, with clients such as UTI MF, Maruti Zen, HSBC, HDFC Standard Life, Colgate, Crompton Greaves, RPG Group and Essar to its credit.
