McCann leads the pack in Food and Beverage Awards 2007 nominations

The FAB Awards are the only international creative awards programme focused solely on creative work done for food and drink brands, and this year they attracted nearly 3,500 pieces of work from 65 countries

The nominations for the 9th International Food and Beverage (FAB) Awards are out, and three agencies from India have made it to the list. McCann Erickson leads with five nominations, while Mudra has secured two and Leo Burnett has managed one.

McCann owes most of its nominations to Happydent; three of its five nominations belong to that brand. The Happydent ad ‘Lightbulb’ has made it to the Television & Cinema: Confectionery and Snacks category, as well as to Packaging & Design: Confectionery and Snacks. A press ad for Happydent, ‘Dentist Whitening Gum’, has lodged itself in the Press: Confectionery and Snacks category.

McCann’s other two nominations are for Pure Sin liquor chocolates (‘Ants’) in the Poster: Confectionery and Snacks category, and for Cocco’s Café (‘Lennon, Luther, Gandhi’) in the Press: The Retailers category.

Mudra Communications, Bangalore, has managed two nominations, both for Tai Tai Restaurants (‘Fish’), one in the Poster: The Retailers category and the other in Press: The Retailers.

Leo Burnett’s single nomination is for the sweetener Zero (‘Elastic Tape’), for its client Alembic Ltd in the Direct: Health Foods category.

The nominations exclude the Digital category, as judging in this category is still in progress.

The FAB Awards are the only international creative awards focused solely on creative work done for food and drink brands. This year, they attracted nearly 3,500 pieces of work from 65 countries, covering TV, Posters, Press, Radio, Integrated Campaigns, Packaging Design, Brand Identity, Retail Environment, Logo Design, Direct Marketing, Collateral & POS, Sales Promotion, Guerrilla Marketing and Digital Media. The work was judged by creative directors in London.

AMV BBDO, London, has taken the most nominations for any single agency office, followed by McCann Erickson, Mumbai, CLM BBDO, Paris, Williams Murray Hamm, London, and Goodby Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco.

The winners will be announced at the awards dinner on May 17, 2007, at the Hurlingham Club in London.
