Amit Ray, strategic planning director, Percept Media – who has led the IRS technical committee as vice-chairman – will head both the IRS and the magazine research programmes. Mubin Khan, director, knowledge and business development, OMS, and Manas Mishra, general manager, Mediaedge: cia, will also be a part of the core team. However, their roles are still to be finalised.

Sources within MRUC reveal that the new committee will concentrate on the quantitative realm of the magazine industry. The qualitative parameters will be finalised in two-three months after research is conducted on the magazine material available in international markets.

The technical committee – which comprises senior professionals with marketing and media planning expertise – ascertains the frequency and requirements for research through meetings with varied sections of users among media, media agencies and advertisers for feedback and necessary action.
