Ad Club, Bangalore, is
gearing up to host its annual Big Bang Awards at Bangalore on July 27, 2007. The awards recognise creative excellence in various fields in advertising. The awards are open to the advertising fraternity across the country, though in the past, entries from the South have dominated.
The Big Bang Awards are presented in various categories, including TVC, print campaign and multimedia campaign. For the first time this year, the Ad club, Bangalore has introduced two new categories. One category is for advertisements in local language, such as; Best Kannada Press Ad, Best Kannada Film Ad, Best Kannada Outdoor Ad, etc. The second new category is Media awards.
Says Arvind Kumar, executive director, Ad Club, Bangalore, says, "This year Big Bang is bound to get exciting and entertaining with the various preparations going into it. It will be a thematic evening and the brief to the event managers is to focus on the spirit of Bangalore and the ever-growing local media options."
This year's Big Bang will see the agencies vying for a total of 54 awards spread over 11 categories, including the Agency of the Year award. The event will be put together and managed by DNA Networks, Bangalore.
Rediffusion DY&R, Bangalore walked away with the Agency of the Year award at 2006's Big Bang event. In all, it won six golds, two silvers and six bronzes. Orchard, Bangalore, came a close second with five golds, one silver and one bronze. Air Deccan won the Client of the Year award. The Campaign of the Year award was won by Rediffusion, Bangalore, for ING Vysya Life Insurance.
