Publicis announces leadership transition in Asia

Matthew Godfrey, COO, Publicis Asia, has been promoted to CEO, Asia; Calvin Soh, chief creative officer, takes on the role of vice-chairman; Guillaume Lévy-Lambert is the new non-executive chairman

The Publicis Groupe has named Matthew Godfrey chief executive officer for its Asia operations and Calvin Soh, vice-chairman, Asia. Godfrey is currently chief operating officer at the Publicis Asia headquarters in Singapore and Soh is chief creative officer.

Godfrey comes from Australia and joined Publicis in 2006. He will succeed Guillaume Lévy-Lambert, the current regional chairman for the Asia Pacific network. Lévy-Lambert will continue to advise the organisation on Asian issues as non-executive chairman of the company. These changes will come into effect from August 1, 2007.

Soh, as vice-chairman, will be responsible for further boosting the quality of the agency’s creative product.

Commenting on the development, Richard Pinder, chief operating officer, Publicis Worldwide, says, “Godfrey’s and Soh’s promotions send a strong signal across that we are determined to be known for our creative quality and intend to be in the premier league in Asia.”

Maurice Lévy, chairman and chief executive officer, Publicis Groupe, South Asia, remarks, “Guillaume Lévy-Lambert joined Publicis in 1997. Since then, the company has become a key player with a strong presence in the Asia region with billings in excess of US$ 1 billion. With the regional network now in place, we look forward to further strengthening our reputation and client base in Asia under the leadership of Matthew Godfrey and Calvin Soh.”
