Swamy makes way for Kamath as new AAAI president

Madhukar Kamath, MD and CEO, Mudra, has taken over as president of AAAI from Srinivasan K Swamy, CEO, RK Swamy/BBDO, after an AGM on Friday.

Kamath was unanimously elected president for the year 2007-08. Outgoing president Swamy has been heading the apex body of advertising agencies in the country for the last three years. Meanwhile, Swamy will continue to be the ex-officio member of the new AAAI executive committee.

Colvyn Harris, CEO, JWT, was unanimously elected vice-president, a position held by Kamath for the last three years.

The other elected members of the executive committee for 2007-08 include Anil Kapoor of FCB-Ulka Advertising; Jagdip S Bakshi of Contract Advertising (India); Mahesh Chauhan of Rediffusion DY&R; Nagesh Alai of Interface Communications; Nirvik Singh of Grey Worldwide (India); Pranav Premnarayen of Prem Associates Advertising & Marketing; Rajeev Ruia of Overture Communications; Sam Balsara of Madison Communications; Snehal Parikh of TV Ads; Sudhir P Ghate of Magnum Intergrafiks; Suman Srivastava of Euro RSCG Advertising Pvt. Ltd; Surajit Nag of Advertising & Sales Promotion Company; Tapas Gupta of BEI Confluence Communication Ltd; and Vinod Nair of Network Advertising.

The AAAI is the apex body of advertising agencies in the country and comprises 84 members who account for approximately 90% of all the advertising business placed in the country.
