Nike India is looking for a digital agency. It already has JWT on board as a creative partner. The development has been confirmed by Sanjay Gangopadhyay, marketing director, Nike. Also, a source informs agencyfaqs! that the search for a full service digital agency is on and Nike is evaluating options.

Says Gangopadhyay, “We are in the process of identifying a digital partner. However, until the process is complete, we will not be able to comment further.”

A source close to the development informs agencyfaqs! that quite a few agencies are participating in the pitch. Nike is looking for a digital partner that can plan and sell Nike’s brand online.

At present the premium sports wear market in India is dominated by Reebok, Adidas and Nike. The three brands account for more than 95 per cent of the market, of which 49 per cent market share is with Reebok alone. Adidas boasts of close to 25 per cent market share, and Nike has close to 20 per cent.

Nike is already committed to the Indian cricket team and is likely to spend more money in advertising to keep up its share of voice in the Indian market. The hunt for a digital partner is an effort in this direction to lure younger consumers.
