Vynsley Fernandes appointed COO, INX News
Fernandes played an instrumental role in setting up the entire broadcasting structure of INX Media’s music and entertainment channels, 9XM and 9X, respectively, in a record eight months
INX Media has appointed Vynsley Fernandes as COO of INX News, which owns NewsX. NewsX is being branded as a premium English news channel. Fernandez is already performing the duties of group director, national operations, INX Media.
Fernandes played an instrumental role in setting up the entire broadcasting structure of INX Media’s music and entertainment channels, 9XM and 9X, respectively, in a record eight months.
Talking about his new role to agencyfaqs!, Fernandes says, “INX Media has set very high standards, which is evident from the two channels which are already on air, 9X and 9XM. It won’t be any different for INX News. My role will be to make sure we are the best news channel in the country once we are up.”
For the record, the INX Group started out as a placement consultancy in 1996. It was floated by Indrani Mukerjea, wife of ex-STAR Group CEO, Peter Mukerjea. Once the company decided to foray into television, it roped in some of the hottest names in the world of media: Vir Sanghvi, former editor of Hindustan Times, as CEO of INX News and editorial head of the news channel; ex-’Mid-Day’ editor Avirook Sen as news room head; former STAR India CFO Shankar Narayan as group director, finance; former STAR India EV-P, distribution, Arun Mohan as group director, distribution; and ad filmmaker Dilip Ghosh as director, content. Indrani Mukerjea is the founder and CEO of INX Media and the chairperson of INX News.
