Devashish Sarkar quits Worldwide Media

Sarkar has been associated with the company for the last four years

Devashish Sarkar, chief executive officer, Worldwide Media (WWM), the 50:50 joint venture company between BBC Worldwide and the Times Group, has put in his papers. Sarkar has been associated with the company for the last four years. Details of his next destination could not be ascertained.

During Sarkar’s tenure, WWM launched various international titles, including Top Gear and Hello. More titles will be launched in the coming months, among them Grazia, Good Homes and Olive. Recently, Filmfare magazine also launched its monthly German edition and turned fortnightly in India.

Sarkar has close to 24 years of working experience. He has taken on diverse roles from sales and marketing to general management across companies and organisations. Some of the companies he has worked with are ITC, Tupperware and the Singapore government. He was elected general secretary of the Association of Indian Magazines (AIM) last year.

For the record, WWM facilitates the exchange of content, titles and know-how for the Indian market. It produces and markets magazines from the Times Group and BBC Worldwide in India.
