The RPG Group’s magazine division, part of the integrated entertainment company, Saregama India (earlier known as HMV), plans to launch its first English magazine in September. The magazine will contain content of general interest and will be targeted at urban Indians in the SEC A segment.
Sandipan Deb, head of the publishing division, says the frequency of the magazine will be weekly. The content of the magazine will differ hugely from other Indian magazines such as India Today and Outlook.

The new magazine will be aimed at the globally minded Indian who is used to reading magazines such as Time, Newsweek, The Economist and Vanity Fair. According to Deb, the magazine aims to go back to the virtue of enriching editorial content, which will add value for readers. The magazine will have classy packaging and include content such as social and human interest stories, technological developments, lifestyle and art and culture. Deb affirms that the content of the magazine will be kept deliberately low on politics.
The name of the magazine has not yet been registered, so it will take a few days for it to become officially known. The RPG Group plans to bring out at least four magazines initially. It also plans to bring some top foreign magazine titles to India for distribution through strategic tie-ups with leading global publishers.
