Lynn de Souza takes charge as chairman and CEO, LMG

De Souza has been with the Lintas Media Group since 2004, and has worked across media and integrated communication services

Lynn de Souza has been promoted as chairman and chief executive officer of Lintas Media Group (LMG). She was earlier director, media services.

As director, De Souza used to oversee LMG’s seven speciality divisions: Initiative Media, Insight, Interactions, Intellect, Digital Initiatives, Media Futures and Second Opinion. Now that all these units have been consolidated into the Lintas Media Group and since she has the experience of working in all of them, De Souza was the obvious choice to take the reins at LMG.

De Souza has headed LMG since 2004, and has managed various integrated companies within the Lintas India Group. She is responsible for Lintas India’s knowledge management system, Owle’s World. Initiative Media, one of the country’s first media agencies, was started and built up by her. De Souza has also worked at O&M and headed the media services business at Trikaya Grey. She has 24 years’ experience in media and integrated communication.

"The media services industry in India is well on its way to maturity, and the opportunities before us are endless. Dominance and control are giving way to mutually beneficial partnerships, collaborations, and the willingness and ability to achieve growth together, rather than at the expense of another. Lintas Media Group believes wholeheartedly that collaboration with all the entities that work for the overall success of a brand is necessary – be they clients, media owners, creative agencies, specialist communication agencies, or the trade – and I believe that our internal reorganisation and refocus to make this happen will become very evident as we go along," says de Souza.

De Souza is responsible for training some of the best media talent in the country, and has developed a postgraduate programme in media management for Northpoint (a Lintas owned educational facility in Khandala), in order to grow talent from within.

With various awards to her credit, De Souza serves on the board of governors of the Media Research Users Council (MRUC) and the Broadcasters Audience Research Council (BARC). She is also on the NRS Council of Management, and the AAAI representative on the joint working committees of the Indian Newspaper Society and the Indian Broadcasters Federation.

As per RECMA, LMG is the third largest player in the country, with billings of more than US$400 million. LMG units are exclusive media partners for players in FMCG (the ITC Group,), automotives (Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Auto), telecom (Idea Cellular), finance (Unit Trust of India, Tata Mutual Fund), consumer durables (Sony Electronics and Sanyo Appliances) and have more than 100 clients in six cities.
