The awards show, which recognises innovations in the media industry, will be held in July. The last date for entries is June 27

The Advertising Club Bombay has made the call for Emvies 2008. The case study based media awards show, which recognises innovations in Indian media in the year gone by, will be held on July 28 at The Grand Hyatt in Santacruz. The last date for registration of entries is June 27.

The Emvies are given out in six categories after a two stage judging process by a panel of industry doyens. Gold and silver awards are conferred in each category. The categories are Best Media Strategy, Best Media Innovation, Best Media Research, Best Integrated Campaign, Media Agency of the Year and the Grand Emvie. There are also two special award categories: the TAM Award for the Best TV Research and the People’s Choice Award for Best Case Study Presentation. The Emvies are awarded to both planners and implementers.

Apurva Purohit, chairperson of the Emvies Committee, says, “With each passing year, agencies are redefining known thresholds of creativity and innovation to deliver clutter breaking solutions for the ever evolving, dynamic business environment. While this makes it challenging for us to create newer parameters of evaluation, it also makes it imperative to access the quality of delivery to the client with impact on business and returns.” A stringent merit driven judging process is used to decide the awards and this process focuses on specific elements of campaigns in terms of delivery, scale and business efficacy.

Lodestar Universal shone at Emvies 2007. Besides being declared Agency of the Year, the media agency walked away with six silvers and three golds, the TAM Award and the People’s Choice Award for the Best Media Innovation in TV and Digital.

The first round of judging will be conducted on July 7, followed by case study presentations on July 21-22.

This year, NDTV Media comes on board as the presenting partner of the Emvies. Sahara One, Just Punjabi TV, Mi Marathi and Microsoft Advertising are associate partners.
