Sunil Rajshekhar appointed president and COO of Times Internet

Rajshekhar has more than 25 years of experience with the Times Group and has worked in Private Treaties and Times Response

Sunil Rajshekhar has been appointed president and chief operating officer of Times Internet. Earlier, Rajshekhar was director, South, Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd (BCCL).

An official communique from Times Internet confirms the development. Dinesh Wadhawan, managing director and chief executive officer, Times Internet, says, “The position has been lying vacant for a long time.”

Rajshekhar has spent more than 25 years with the Times Group. He was head of Private Treaties, the investment arm of BCCL. He led the team in setting up the group's online presence, particularly Indiatimes.com. He also managed branch operations for the group and worked for Times Response.

During the early days of the Internet in India, Rajshekhar quit BCCL and moved to IndiaInfo.com, a portal offering news and content related to lifestyle, movies and astrology. He also did a stint with the Internet division of STAR India.

Times Internet runs various Internet portals such as Indiatimes.com; iTimes.com, a social networking portal; and ZigWheels.com, the recently launched auto portal. Other Internet properties owned by the Times Group include news sites such as TimesofIndia.com, Economictimes.com and Navbharattimes.com. Times Business Solutions, a separate company of the Times Group, manages its classifieds websites, Simlymarry.com, Timesjobs.com and Magicbricks.com.
